Mixing & Mastering
Mixing and Mastering is the process of optimizing multitrack recordings into one professional radio-ready track. Both Mixing and Mastering are separate, highly specialised processes with a strong technical and creative aspect.
Mixing refers to collating and fine tuning each individual layer of the track (vocals, instrumental, etc.) so that each element sounds pleasant, cohesive and professional. Mixing engineers will make tasteful use of equalisation, compression and effects to get the most out of a track.
Mastering involves polishing the track as a whole to give it a final professional ‘sheen’. Mastering engineers will use compression, saturation to tie all the elements of a track together. They will also ensure the track is loud enough to be heard on all streaming platforms without distorting or losing dynamic range. A full Mix and Master is an essential step to a finished track and if avoided will mean your track doesn’t get the love it deserves.
All of our Mix & Masters all include a free 20-minute consultation with your engineer where we’ll talk through all the key fundamentals to ensure that your vision is seen through. We offer various packages based on the level of complexity - get in touch or book to learn more.
